ใ„ใฌใŒใ€€ใ„ใพใ™ใ€‚ - Inu ga imasu. - There is a dog. ใ›ใ‚“ใ›ใ„ใŒใ€€ใ„ใพใ™ใ€‚ - Sensei ga imasu. - There is a teacher.

Non-living things - use ใ‚ใ‚Šใพใ™ (arimasu):

ใปใ‚“ใŒใ€€ใ‚ใ‚Šใพใ™ใ€‚ - Hon ga arimasu. - There is a book. ใใ‚‹ใพใŒใ€€ใ‚ใ‚Šใพใ™ใ€‚ - Kuruma ga arimasu. - There is a car.

Plants are alive, BUT in Japanese, they donโ€™t move by themselves, so we use ใ‚ใ‚Šใพใ™!

Think of ใฎ as โ€œ'sโ€ (possessive) and ใซ as โ€œat/inโ€!

๐ŸŽฏ Building Location Sentences

Step 1: What are we talking about? โ†’ ใญใ“ใฏ (The catโ€ฆ)

Step 2: Where is it? โ†’ ใƒ†ใƒผใƒ–ใƒซใฎไธŠใซ (on top of the table)

Step 3: Does it exist? โ†’ ใ„ใพใ™ (it exists - itโ€™s alive!)
